Where customers lose visibility
Riders need to plan around a bike they cannot use.
A routine service can uncover a worn chain, battery problem or another repair. The rider needs to know whether the bike is waiting, on the bench or ready—not just that it is 'at the workshop'.
Small shops often juggle several bikes at once. Repeating the same status by chat takes time away from inspection and hands-on work.
What a progress page changes
Show the actual handoff points.
Give each motorcycle a page with its own stages. A photo or concise note can document the inspection result before the bike moves into service.
When a bike is waiting on a part, keep that stage visible. Once it has been tested and is ready, the customer can check the page before arranging pickup.
A workflow you could start with
These are examples. You can rename, add, remove or reorder stages for each tracking without changing other jobs.
For a tire job, replace the service stage with fitting and balancing. For a complex rebuild, add parts and testing stages.
A useful customer update
The replacement chain has been fitted and tension checked. We are completing the final road check before marking the bike ready for pickup.
Make 'ready' mean ready.
Do not mark a motorcycle complete as soon as a part is installed if a test ride or safety check still remains. A separate final-check stage avoids a premature trip to the shop. Keep any safety or authorization discussion in your usual service process.
Questions from this kind of work
Can a quick service use fewer stages than a major repair?
Yes. Choose a saved workflow as a starting point, then edit the stages for that motorcycle when the job needs different steps.
Can I show a photo of the worn part?
Yes. Add an image to a customer-facing progress update, subject to the plan's file and storage limits.
